Chris was out of town for Valentine's Day, but he didn't forget us. Last night before I went to bed, I found a hidden gift that he had left for me. It included a dieter's worst nightmare...candy; and also another item that will be featured in another post.
Anyway, since Chris was gone, Max was my Valentine date. Since it was such a gorgeous, warm day, I decided to take my little guy to one of my favorite places in the whole word - the Zoo! I cannot believe that Max is almost 6 months old and I hadn't taken him. It was well past time. And I figured that his first trip to the zoo was a good occasion for his first ride in his big boy stroller seat, so he could really see the animals.
I was pretty excited to see the Colobus monkeys because I had heard that there was a new baby. I was hoping we'd be able to see her. And there she was! Look at that cute little girl!
And my cute little boy!
And then there were these guys...I think we can all agree that nothing says "Valentine's Day" like some vultures. Right?
Once we passed the vultures, though, the Zoo was ALL about Valentine's Day - LOVE was definitely in the air!!
Walter and Autumn were enjoying their Valentine's Day lunch. (Although, it appears that they may have been in a slight tiff...
I tried to explain to Max that these guys were the real life representations of her Sophie, but he was apparently too hungry to listen.
These two lovers were enjoying an afternoon Valentine's nap together...wait, I think these are both males - nevermind.
Doesn't Max look properly impressed with the King(s) of the Jungle? No?
This one's for Chris:
Look at this guy, trying to look good for his Valentine:
And then Max fell in love with this guy (how could he not - look at that face!):
It was a great date at the Zoo. Wait, does it mean it was a successful date if your companion looks like this at the end of it?
We arrived home to find a gift from Mimi on the front porch for Max. I think he had quite a haul for a 6 month old. A very nice first Valentine's Day for Maximilian, and he definitely made my Valentine's Day a happy one!
