Note to self: next time you stop on the side of the road and buy boiled peanuts, get something to throw the shells in. Stopping periodically to empty the ash tray of soggy peanut shells isn't the most fun. Dodging peanut shells as Chris tries to throw them out of my window (?) also isn't the greatest.
We continued on to Laurens and paid a visit to the "Nostalgic Filling Station" - Chris spent a lot of time talking to the guy who owns it; Max and I spent a lot of time nursing in the car. But then we got out and took a few pictures before we kept going on our merry way.
I think this picture actually puts me automatically in the running for the "Parent of The Year" award due to the fact that I'm holding my baby right next to something that apparently "contains lead." But, whatever...
From the Nostalgic Filling Station, we headed back to Simpsonville, where we stopped by for one last visit with Benny. He was super-excited to see Max! As soon as we put Max down on the kitchen counter, Benny started flapping his arms around and squealing with excitement. It was really cute.
Max wasn't quite as excited.
I finally got to hold Benny this weekend. The last time I saw him, he was sick so I refrained. And the time before that I had just had my C-section. So, it was fun to hold an 8 month old - they're surprisingly heavy!
And I had wanted to get a picture of Max with a pumpkin all day, since he was in his overalls (whatever that has to do with a pumpkin...it made sense earlier in the day). Anyway, I was happy to find a pumpkin sitting on Mom and Dad's kitchen counter...you don't question these things. I guess Lympi and Paul were planning on carving it. Actually Lympi wanted to put Max IN it for a picture, but that would have required Paul to get off his rocker (literally) and stop watching football, and that wasn't going to happen. It would have been cute though, and it's an idea I've filed away for later maybe...but we had to settle for this:
It was a beautiful fall day! Now here's hoping for a restful fall night!
