Catching Up is Hard to do....

I have been a bit slack with the blog over the last several days. It took us several days to fully recover from Oktoberfest. It was so much fun, but also a lot of work. I think Chris spent most of his time grilling brats and today is Wednesday and I'm still working on getting everything cleaned up and put away! Chris and I have discussed that we need to figure out ways to make Oktoberfest easier next year...my first suggestion is to grill brats only twice during the party rather than "to order", but it's a learning experience and we'll hopefully get better at Oktoberfest hosting as the years go by!

Halloween was Sunday. We didn't dress up, but if I had dressed up, I would have dressed as Scrooge or The Grinch, because that's how I feel about Halloween. I find it more than a little bit ridiculous that those of us without children of trick-or-treating age are still expected to buy bags upon bags of candy to hand out to other little candy-snatchers, most of whom are bused in to the neighborhood and don't even live here. Others come by the house 2 or 3 times. Not to mention that every time the doorbell rings, we have to listen to Bailey going nuts.

So, since Chris saw a sign set up in the neigborhood stating that trick or treating would be from 3-7 on Sunday, we decided to vacate the premesis and went over to Mom and Dad's. Even though we didn't dress up, we couldn't pass up the opportunity to dress Bailey in her Halloween costume from last year. It's very flattering, as you can see.

"I dressed my dog up as the postman. She bit herself."

Later on, Julie and Paul came by with the boys. They looked quite cute:

After collecting their candy from Mimi (and after Nathanael tried to snack on a Hershey's Kiss with the foil still on it), they were on their way. We left soon after, went home, closed the blinds, and ate leftover Oktoberfest food...and with that, Halloween drew to a rather uneventful close. I look forward to next year and actually dressing Max up. Then we can be the candy-snatchers I always complained about :)
