Two Months for Tessa.

So, our princess is 2 months old; and as is customary, we celebrated the grand occasion with a trip to the doctor for reassurance that she's perfect...and a round of vaccinations. Since Mimi and Pop Pop are out of town, we trucked the whole family to the appointment. Max was more than happy to come along, as he loves going to the doctor; and in fact frequently asks me to stop in when we drive by the office. The challenge in taking Max to the doctor when the appointment is actually for Tessa is explaining to him that he does not get measured and cannot climb on the exam table.

So, Dr. Lookadoo confirmed that she's perfect and her stats are as follows:
Height: 23 1/4", which is 86% (yay!) Chris says I shouldn't get my hopes up because he thought the nurse took a very "tall" but not exact measurement. We'll see. In comparison, Max was 23 3/4", which was 84%. Pretty close.
Weight: 11 lb, 3.5 oz, which is 53% (perfect!). Max was 11 lbs 9.6 oz and 56% at 2 months. Again, pretty darn close.
Head Circumference: 38 1/2 cm, which is 63%. Wait a minute...what? At every late ultrasound I had, the sonographer made a specific point of telling me that her head measured "small". I was literally growing terrified that she was going to be microcephalic, yet somehow she has a rather large gourd? In comparison, Max's head at 2 months was also 38 1/2, but for boys I guess that correlates to the 20%. Interesting.

As is customary, I made Chris hold onto Tessa as she had her vaccines. 2 in one leg, one in the other, and an oral one. She definitely cried more than Max did, but not that much. It wasn't nearly as bad as the veinous blood she had to have taken at 2 weeks when we had to have a re-screen because of a wacky number on one of her newborn screens. Here is a comparison "after/band-aid" shot of Tessa and one of Max. I think they definitely have the same nose, mouth, cheeks, and bandaids. :)

So, anyhow, a fairly un-eventful doctor visit, right? Well, not if Dennis the Menace (aka Max) has anything to say about it. As we were at the checkout desk making Tessa's 4 month appointment, Max decided he would make a run for it and escape his Father's clutches for another turn playing with the toys in the waiting room. Chris went after him, and while I'm fuzzy on exactly what happened, there was a doorknob/Max's face collision and a lot of embarrassing screaming. I guess if you're going to bust your lip open, the doctor's office is a good place to do it. And I guess Max will do whatever it takes to be the patient. After it was determined that no stiches were necessary, we were on our way...and I'm fairly certain have been red flagged as crazy people at the doctor's office.

Celebrating his puffy lip with a burger at Five Guys.
It's hard to believe we've only had Tessa in our lives for 2 months. I bet Max doesn't even remember life without her. He's obsessed with her and jealous of her all at the same time. I guess they will have this confusing relationship for many years.

"Oh, Tessa, I love you so much that I picked out this train for you at Walmart and I insist that you have it near you at all times."

"But, Tessa, lest you forget, I am your BIG brother and I will torment you in many and assorted ways. Such as covering you in snakes while you sleep"

Max has also come up with his own special term of endearment for Tessa. Whenever he does something crazy I tend to call him a "goon". This is a typical Eddy term of endearment. Most folks would probably not realize we mean it with love. I love that Max reserves the name "goon" for his most loved little human.

And, then again...sometimes he throws stuff at her for no apparent reason. So I'd say he's got this brother thing pretty much down-pat.
