Just a Quiet Little Thanksgiving...

Thanksgiving 2012. It was slated to be a quiet one. Just Mimi and PopPop, Chris, me, and Max. Mom and I had even discussed scrapping it and going out to eat instead of cooking. (Of course, our chef extraordinaire Christopher would never go for that, but still.)

But then...Paul, Lympi and Scarlett RSVPd "yes!" and then...Mom realized "OH!! it IS actually the year for Ben, Les, and Benny to come for Thanksgiving". And suddenly, we were all in for a full-on too-many-trays-of-mac-and-cheese Thanksgiving.

We showed up at Mimi and PopPop's bright and early so that Chris could "heat the grease" (that sounds so classy) and so that Max could get proper use out of Nathanael's hand-me-down Thanksgiving shirt.

Eventually Paul, Lympi, and baby Scarlett and Ben, Leslie, and Benny showed up and before you know it, the bird was ready and it was time to eat. Mom had cooked for an army, as usual, and as a result she tried to force mac and cheese and green bean casserole down everyone's gullets for days after...which is, of course, Thanksgiving tradition. Sadly, the "banana pudding catastrophe" tradition was not repeated this year. What a shame. The perfectly fried bird, however, was definitely repeated.

The after-meal festivities were typical American Thanksgiving activities: cornhole and tractor-trailer rides. Right?

Please. I love the look on Benny's face in this picture so much. The other 3 clowns...eh.

And of course, the truely traditional post-Thanksiving meal activity: napping!

Baby Scarlett's first Thanksgiving. Wearing the sleeper that her cousin Max wore on his first Thanksgiving in 2010.

And then, before you knew it, tummies found room for dessert. I think Mom served about 25 pies. I myself did not partake - the baby within is taking up so much space at this point that I wasn't able to eat again that day. But Max went ahead and ate for both of us. Why choose one dessert when you can have two (or more)?

Not long after this, Scarlett took her parents home and then the Rogers showed up and round 2 started (although apparently I was too tired by that point to take any pictures). And thus, the quiet "nobody's coming" Thankgiving ended with every Eddy child, spouse, and grandchild having been in attendance!

Max particularly enjoyed Thanksgiving weekend, because Benny was here for the whole weekend. There was lots of playing in the dirt and noisy fun to be had. And at the end of the weekend, I'm pretty sure there were 2 exhausted boys...and maybe even several exhausted adults.
